Image Making Fall 2022
The goal of this project was to work with group members to construct a large word. This word was supposed to make the viewer move around it and factor in elements of light and shadow. The final word was installed in the Fine Arts Building at UMSL.
The word our group decided to use was “Love.” We chose this word because we thought it would resonate with a lot of people. To construct our word, we took four 2x2 ft squares of foam and cut the letters out of each one. Then we spray-painted the squares black and placed decorative paper along the sides. Finally, we hung each letter from the ceiling with a fishing line and placed color-changing LED lights above them. This allowed the light to shine through the letters to create a colorful word on the ground.
